Kristy Herman

Dr. Kristy Herman is excited to be a part of the VCAH team! She graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2021. A local Hudson Valley resident and true Spartan, she grew up in Westchester County and earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology from St. Thomas Aquinas College nearby in Sparkill, NY. Dr. Herman became interested in the hospital due to their location, services provided, and outstanding team. While she loves animals of all ages, her passion is geriatric medicine with a focus on therapies aimed to improve quality of life and the human-animal bond, such as wellness and preventive medicine as well as integrative modalities, including acupuncture and palliative care. She is currently working on completing her Certificate of Veterinary Medical Acupuncture (cVMA) from CuraCore’s Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians program and looks forward to expanding Valley Cottage Animal Hospital’s acupuncture services. Dr. Herman has been involved with the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association since 2017, serving as a Delegate for Michigan State University, and on the national level as a Liaison (2019-2020) and Webmaster (2020-2021). She was also appointed as a Student Editor Intern for the Journal of American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association 2019-2021 and hopes to stay current on trends and research as an Editorial Committee member following graduation. While at MSU, she was also interested in expanding her knowledge of surgery and emergency medicine, working as an on-call assistant and emergency receiving student, and staying involved in the Surgery and Emergency Medicine clubs.  In her free time, Dr. Herman loves exploring the great outdoors, baking, volunteering, and learning new languages. She looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members!
